Bee Ag-Valuation Services

Coastal Honey provides managed honeybee colonies and professional beekeeping services for qualifying properties seeking or maintaining agricultural valuation in Galveston County.

Texas law allows beekeeping to be considered an agricultural use on certain properties between 5 and 20 acres. The required number of colonies depends on the acreage and current guidelines established by the local appraisal district. New applicants may also need to show a qualifying agricultural-use history for five of the preceding seven years.

Our Bee-Lease Services May Include:

• Delivery and placement of managed honeybee colonies
• Routine hive inspections and colony maintenance
• Replacement or adjustment of colonies when necessary
• A written beekeeping lease agreement
• Service records and supporting documentation
• Professional care from a local, insured beekeeper

Property owners are responsible for applying with the Galveston Central Appraisal District and confirming that their property meets all current requirements. Approval is determined by the appraisal district. Placing honeybee colonies on a property or entering into a bee-lease agreement does not guarantee approval.
